Hey everybody, Cam here. When Lauren and I were getting ready for this tour, we decided we were going to stick to eating healthy food. There’s a lot of crap you can eat on the road, and with one exception we’ve avoided anything that resembles fast food. That includes bar food which is usually anything that can be thrown into a deep fryer. We’ve managed to do it by bringing a lot of healthy and nutrient dense snacks in the car (fruit, nuts, veggies) and having really amazing hosts at house concerts that have been providing meals for us.
Eating well helps our budget since we’re not eating out as much. Most of what we’ve eaten comes from grocery stores, not restaurants, so it’s cheaper and easier to control what we’re consuming. I’ve also had more energy, which helps a lot with all the loading/unloading and performing we’ve got to do. And we’ve been exercising when we can—Lauren has been a lot more consistent than me, but I pretend like my amp counts as lifting weights.
So far we’ve done pretty well. Keep checking the updates to see if we stick to the plan in Chicago, Jackson, and St. Louis!
Number of underage people they let in the club: absolutely zero, even if he was my brother. And I forgot my i.d. and they didn’t let ME in either until I had it.
Number of my posters hanging in the men’s bathroom: 2. i feel like that’s one more than necessary.
Number of FREE GUITAR STANDS: 1, which isn’t a lot, but FREE GUITAR STANDS ARE AWESOME. Birdy’s declares that there is a “guitar stand vortex” where bands leave them there all the time, so they give them away all the time, and it always works out. SWEET. I really needed one.
Expenses: $0. Technically, we should have eaten, but we didn’t. This was a personal choice. I’ll write a post about it.
Income:
CD sales: $90
Door money: $70
TOTAL: $160 + $1211.70 = $1371.70
I am SO HAPPY to be so far ahead at this point, because we have a lot of traveling ahead of us, which is going to get quite expensive. Also, Cam and I are splitting this income 50/50 (after we subtract CD material expenses), so I’m keeping that in mind, as well.
SEE YOU TONIGHT, CHICAGO!!!
